We Did it!

Wow I can't believe that it has been almost a year since my last post! If anything was worthy of jumping back into the blogging world, I felt this was:

We did it!
So a while back my cousin Nicki sent out an email asking if anyone was interested in training to run a 1/2 marathon with her. Although we might not be able to physically be together, we could train together online. Wow I thought, could I really run 13.1 miles? Why not try. After about 5 months of training, the day finally arrived. I was luckily enough to have had my sister right along side me the whole time. It meant the world to me!

The run began bright and early (6:30) in Long Beach. It was pretty small with only about 15-20 people running. We finished right in the middle, which was right where we here hoping to finish. Look at these cool medals we received!

After running 13.1 miles you work up quite the appetite. We decided to eat what any other 1/2 marathoner would.....

Donuts on the way home .....

Tommy's for lunch!

I had so much fun and hope to do it again next year! Thank you so much Nicki, Tarin and Jill, I couldn't have done it without any of you!

Oh, Nicki and Tarin.... Jill and I wished we could have run together. You were both missed!

It is always fun when the Putmans are here

My sister Jill and her kids were able to spend a few days with us this summer. Matt and I had so much fun having them around. Here are a few pictures:
Matt loved playing golf with Trevor
We also go to have a girl's night at my mom's house! We always have so much fun together! Here we are modeling our new purses that were made for us out of gorcery bags. Thanks Nita!

We miss you guys so much and can't wait until we get to see you again!

Help, Need Sleep!

Some people may be thinking.....Hummm Kimmy does not have a baby....Kimmy does not have a job with abnormal hours....why would she be complaining of sleep? Let me explain. My problem is my dog. (Not this dog)
But this one. Big Steve is stopping me from blissful nights of sleep. So maybe someone out there can help me out. Steve happily slept in our room each night until we moved into the new house. Now our bedroom is upstairs, and Steve is scared to death of the stairs. We've tried to carry him up the stairs (but him being over 100lbs we can't do it every night), we've bribed him, even Katie our other dog runs up and down the stairs almost like she's trying to teach him how to go up. So night after night Steve sits at the bottom of the stairs and cries....and cries....and cries. We've tried to let him just cry, but he never stops so Matt and I both don't sleep. We've resorted (I know, this sounds awful) but we've resorted to having one of us sleep on the couch downstairs with him each night just so that we can get some kind of sleep.
What is really strange though is that when we took the dogs down to the beach he ran up and down the stairs like it was nothing. So we thought that maybe he would be okay once we got home.
But this is what happened that day when we got home. Stairs are stairs...why is this such a big deal?
So, please, please, Please let me know if you have a trick for my dog Steve.

Lucky You & Promise to blog!

Okay, so I haven't been blogging for awhile. I know, maybe my blog was a little more exciting when my sister was doing it for me, it's just hard for me to write about myself. I thought that the "lucky you" that was on Jill's blog would be a good way to kick off my reentry into the blogging world. So, I'll make you a deal. If you sign up as one of my 5 people on Lucky you, then I'll continue to blog. If nobody signs up, I'll figure that everyone has given up on my blog. If I get my 5 comments, I promise to blog at LEAST twice a month. Sound fair? I don't care if you've signed up on someone else's lucky you.....you can sign up for mine as well. I already have really cool (and I mean really cool ) things in mind to make.

So, here's the rules to lucky you

Lucky you! The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you! This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year. (might be a little while)
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or an article on properly cleaning your face before a masque. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows?
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did, win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!

Flashback Friday: Year 1993

So my sister Jill and I thought it would be a really fun idea to start Flashback Friday's on each of our blogs. Each week we will pick either a year or a catagory from our life for our flashback.

This week I am flashing back to the year 1993. Back in 1993 Bill Clinton was our president, an average movie ticket was $4.00 and the price of a gallon of gas was $1.17. Popular artists were Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Aerosmith and the cool movies were Jurassic Park, Mrs. Doubtfire and the Fugitive. Here's me back in 1993.
This was my best friend, Jenny Sponseller. We did everything together. We normally didn't dress like this but this was a day at school where nothing was supposed to match. Do you like my shorts? To think I really wore those on normal days! In 1993 my Dad was remarried which is how I inherited this beautiful bridesmaid dress. You probably can't tell but I even had a matching scrunchie! We had the choice of choosing to wear white pumps with this dress or hot pink ones, so of course we wanted hot pink!

And just to show you that it wasn't a dreaded bridesmaid dress, here's a picture of my Mom and sister and I all dressed up. See, I actually really loved this dress, I wore it all of the time. Check out my sisters outfit....that's another post all in itself!

My Best Friend's Wedding

My friend Michelle got married last weekend in a beautiful resort in San Diego. We've been friends since our cheerleading days as freshman in high school. She was such a beautiful bride and it was fun to see her so happy.
Here's a picture of some of the bridesmaids during the reception. We've had alot of fun together during Michelle's engagement. From the bridal shower to the slumber party the night before the wedding, it's been great getting to know the other girls.
Michelle and Jay seemed so happy together . I was so honored to be a part of their special day.

Annual Heart Walk

Every year my work, Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, sponsers a 5k walk for heart wellness. I not only participate because I work in the cardio department, but also because I am a heart survivor. About 7 years ago I underwent open heart surgery to fix problems that I have had with my heart since birth. This year my mom came down to walk with me and show support for our team. If you are wondering why our shirts are different, mine is red to signify that I am a survivor. It was a really neat day. Thanks to everyone who sponsored and walked with me!
